Nelnet Business Services announced the purchase of Entab Infotech Pvt. Ltd., a provider of school-management and learning technology for international K-12 schools. The deal was disclosed on Oct. 5, 2026 from Lincoln, Neb., and New Delhi. Nelnet did not reveal the purchase price.

Why the acquisition matters

Nelnet already offers higher-education and student-loan services. Adding Entab gives the company a presence in the K-12 market, where schools are adopting more software tools. Entab’s platform handles enrollment, finance, communication and classroom functions for schools across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The new offering expands Nelnet’s education-technology portfolio beyond post-secondary institutions. It also matches the company’s goal of diversifying its product line.

Growth of the international school-tech market

Research from the International School Market projects the sector to grow from USD 1.42 bn in 2025 to USD 3.91 bn by 2034, a compound annual growth rate of about 12%.

Demand is being driven by digital enrollment, remote learning and data-driven administration in private and expatriate schools. Vendors that combine finance, attendance and learning management in a single cloud suite are seeing higher adoption.

Impact on Nelnet Business Services

Entab’s client base includes more than 1,200 schools worldwide. Those relationships give Nelnet immediate access to a large number of potential customers for its tuition-payment plans and loan-servicing products. The acquisition also extends Nelnet’s geographic reach. While the company has been U.S.-focused, Entab’s presence in emerging markets opens new revenue streams and spreads risk. Integration will focus on unifying back-office functions and maintaining data security across different jurisdictions. Nelnet plans to keep Entab’s development team to continue improving the platform.

Next steps

In the short term, Nelnet will align Entab’s product roadmap with its broader education-technology strategy. Analysts expect the combined company to seek partnerships with hardware providers and curriculum developers. Long-term growth will depend on how quickly Nelnet can scale the platform in markets where digital school administration is still developing. If the company can apply its financial-services expertise, it could capture a larger share of the projected $3.9 bn market by 2034.

Further details will be shared in Nelnet’s upcoming earnings call. For past releases and more context, visit the Press Release Archives.
